Check out this link created by Amy Nguyen in 3rd period science. It is full of great information and review of the three types of rock. Thank you, Amy!

We are just beginning our unit on Rocks and Minerals. The students have been busy all week learning the properties used to identify minerals. The students will have the opportunity to practice minerals by testing and observing their mineral properties such as color, streak, luster, density, and hardness just to name a few. Then we move on to the rock cycle, and this is where we really start "rockin' and rolling"! The students will be coming home with a
We hope you all had a wonderful winter break! Prior to winter break we learned about the life cycle of stars, composition of stars, constellations and made star charts to help us find those constellations in the night sky. The students were given the amazing opportunity to visit the Star Lab several times and WOW! What an amazing experience that was! The students really enjoyed learning in the Star Lab and were very good at locating the constellations under the dome of Star Lab's sky.
We are continuing our study of space, and have moved on to the lunar cycle. The students are learning all about the lunar cycle; how long it lasts, what occurs during that time and what the moon looks like during all 8 phases of the lunar cycle. They are The kids had a test over the planets last week, and they did an amazing job! They worked very hard to learn the planets in order from the Sun and also know their relative size and place in space. This week, we will continue our study of space by learning about how gravity keeps the planets in orbit around the Sun. We will also continue to discuss what factors make the force of gravity stronger or weaker. It is fun to watch the students confidence grow as they work with the new material and master the content. Keep it up, students!
We have been having a great time beginning our study of space. Last week, students began learning about the planets in our solar system. They have learned the order of planets from the Sun and the relative spacing and distance of the planets from each other and from the Sun. Please ask your students how the statement "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos" helps them remember the order of the planets. This week we are continuing to build our knowledge of the planets in the solar system by learning about planets and their mass and their "place in space". Students will also practice concepts such as mass, weight and gravity.
